Not all furnished apartments will have this but if you find a good one the proprietor will have made sure to leave you some consumables to start you off with. This is basically things like tissues and soaps.
Apart from the paper towels, you will also need some towels to use after showering or washing hands. Even if they do not provide you with a washing machine, you will still need to iron your clothes so look into that as well.
To make sure that you get a vague idea of what is awaiting you at the apartment make sure that you browse the site for pictures or videos of the apartment. It is always better to steer clear of proprietors that do not want to show you pictures or videos of the place because the place could be in a really ragged condition.
Do not be scared to ask about their entertainment options. If you need a TV with cable and a DVD player then ask if this can be arranged for you. Internet is almost a norm nowadays but make sure to ask.
A great deal would include provisions for grocery delivery service. Basic grocery should be purchased and put in the kitchen before your arrival. Milk and breakfast essentials should be provided if, in case, you have an infant or toddler.
Last but not least, if you have a car, you need to know where you are going to park it.
